A sociable cooking group for adults with learning disabilities or mental health issues. We will focus on cooking delicious food from scratch and practising day-to-day kitchen skills.
Suitable for those who have begun to develop an interest in food and try out their kitchen skills. However, it may be possible to attend these sessions even if you have not done our 'Beginnings' programme: just call us to have a chat about your requirements. We will also be thinking about healthy eating principles. We may also be able to include some work experience in a cafe environment during this programme.
What to expect: An opportunity to practise and develop useful kitchen techniques, cook interesting dishes, improve personal and social skills and explore progression pathways into further courses or the workplace.
Starts 7th Sept 2018 - 16th November 2018
NB There will be a break on Friday 2nd November for half term

Every week, Barny and the Square Food team head to One25, a charity in St Paul's, Bristol that reaches out to women in sex work and drug addiction. We've worked with the women there for over two years, helping build trust, self-esteem and confidence, teaching skills and recipes and importantly, providing a nourishing and delicious meal.
