Welcome to Square Food Foundation, Bristol’s groundbreaking cookery school.

Awarded Best Community Cookery School in the UK by Looking to Cook, Square Food Foundation is a cookery school which offers a unique opportunity to people of any age, ability and walk of life to make food and cooking more accessible, more fun and more part of everyday living.

Square Food (formerly at Bordeaux Quay and before that at Quartier Vert) is a Community Interest Company. Square Food has run courses and workshops for over 15 years. It has taught skills and given confidence and inspiration to thousands of its students from every walk of life. To make its cooking as accessible and affordable as possible, Square Food reinvests all profit into its community food education programme – tailormade cookery courses and workshops for schools and colleges, charitable organisations and local authority groups.

Whether you cook every day and need new inspiration or you want to learn how to eat well on less money, or you’ve never even picked up a knife before, turn to our programme of courses and workshops for a solution.

Or, if you just want to spend a fun evening with brilliant ingredients, delicious recipes and skilled and experienced teachers, you’ll find that here as well.

Read Barny’s Blog at www.squaremealchallenge.wordpress.com to find out how he and Square Food Manager, Lucy fare, living on £2.92 per day.

Square Food Foundation is proud to be a Community Interest Company

First thing to say is that we had a ball, it was really good fun, we learnt so much and we both said what an absolutely fantastic time we had. The second thing to say is that I cannot believe quite how many recipes and tips we got from the class, it’s so useful to have that instant feedback on any questions, you pick up so much knowledge and the food always turns out brilliantly, it was just an amazing experience. I’ve already raved about it to friends and family, all of whom I have recommended taking a class or giving a class as a present for Christmas or birthdays and we are eagerly planning our next round of classes where we can pick up even more ideas.
